Toronto Mayor Rob Ford (allegedly) gets filmed smoking crack cocaine and makes our fail of the week
U.S.-based website Gawker was the first to break the news of the alleged existence of a video tape showing Toronto's favorite mayor (insert LOTS of sarcasm there) Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine from a pipe, surrounded by a group of men who are allegedly involved in the drug trade.
Two Toronto Star reporters have since added to the still developing story, saying they've watched the video and although they weren't able to tell what was in the pipe, they were told it was crack.
Obvs, Rob Ford has called the allegations and the whole video “ridiculous." Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday, who has not seen the video, said, “I don’t know what to say at this point, it’s shocking to see it on the front page of a newspaper. We all know videos can be altered and drug dealers can’t be trusted.” He added, “I would advise the mayor to speak to the media, but he needs to do so in a prepared way."
Great idea in theory but even months of preparation might not be enough for Ford. Let's remember a few things, shall we?
Ford is known for his racist comments - which include gems like "Those Oriental people work like dogs" - and for his less than stellar behavior, like randomly slapping refrigerator magnets on cars, so maybe the last thing he should do is talk to the media. He'd likely just make things worse with his big mouth and inability to recognize what is appropriate and what isn't.
We should also point out that maybe this video - if it is real - would at least explain all the stupid behavior he's become so known for over the years, which, in turn, would surely help people hate him less. Just a thought...
