Smurfs 2, The Spectacular Now and 2 Guns are sure to dominate this weekend's box office - should you see 'em?

The Smurfs 2

Starring Hank Azaria and Neil Patrick Harris, the newly revamped Smurfs franchise is back to prove it's not just for kids.

Part animation and part real, legit acting, The Smurfs 2 sees everyone's fave little blue creatures teaming up with us humans to help save Smurfette (what else is new?) from Gargamel.

This time, it's her brains that get her in trouble, as Smurfette knows a spell to turn Gargamel's new evil creatures, the Naughties, into real Smurfs... Did we mention Neil Patrick Harris is in it?!

The Spectacular Now

From the writers of (500) Days of Summer comes yet another surprise hit, The Spectacular Now.

This is the story of how a high school senior who loves nothing more than a good party and who is turning into an alcoholic with no plans for his future gets his world turned around when he gets drunk (after his girlfriend dumps him) and wakes up on the lawn of a 'nice girl' with a bright future.

The Spectacular Now doesn't have any huge celeb names to back it up, but it doesn't need them - the touching, realistic story is enough to have us singing its praises.

2 Guns

Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg are this movie's two stars, so you just know there's going to a whole lot of action backed up by a whole lot of solid acting.

The premise? A DEA agent and a naval intelligence officer are forced to be on the run after their tries to infiltrate and stop a drug cartel go very wrong. Twist is, neither one knew the other was also an undercover agent.

Sure, it sounds simple, but sometimes that's all you really need for a good action comedy, isn't it?
