Edward Norton and John Cusack face off in this week's ACTOR SMACKDOWN

Acting
Edward Harrison Norton has known fame from the very beginning and that’s no exaggeration. His 1996 debut role in Primal Fear actually got him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor – definitely not something that happens every day. Proving his acting was unrivaled and that he was a force to be reckoned with, Norton went on to play diverse but always noteworthy roles in hits like Fight Club, The Illusionist, The Italian Job, The Incredible Hulk and too many others to name.

John Paul Cusack has appeared in countless American classics, but one of his most beloved (and most romantic) roles may come courtesy of 1989’s Say Anything. The moment where he holds up that boom box over his head underneath his ladylove’s window is a part of movie history! His other major projects have included High Fidelity, Con Air, Being John Malkovich and Serendipity. Point: Cusack

Awards
Norton has a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for his part in Primal Fear and has been nominated for an Academy Award twice. First for Best Supporting Actor for Primal Fear, then for Best Actor in American History X. He has yet to take home an Oscar, though.

Cusack has been nominated for a slew of awards, including the Golden Globe for Best Actor for High Fidelity, but has yet to be nominated for an Oscar. Or take home any biggies, for that matter. Point: Norton

Persona
l
Norton is an environmental and social activist. He supports noble causes such as the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust for which he is the president of the American branch. In 2010, he was given the title of United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Biodiversity by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. And the list goes on. Talk about a good guy!

Cusack was involved in politics as a blogger for The Huffington Post between 2005 and 2009. He openly wrote about his opposition of the Iraq war and his, to put it lightly, hatred for the Bush administration. In his free time, he’s a mega lover of kickboxing and has been for over two decades. He currently holds a level 6 black belt – wow! Point: Norton

Verdict: Norton, although this was a close one. After all, both guys kick major ass.
