Photographer Thomas Zakowski's frozen lighthouses series will take your breath away
If you think nothing good can possibly come from the (ridiculously) cold weather currently gripping the US and Canada, you're wrong. Very wrong.
Photographer Thomas Zakowski is making headlines thanks to a similar Arctic-worthy chill, which gripped the States last year and provided him with THE perfect subject matter for a series of images that's guaranteed to take your breath away.
Zakowski was visiting Michigan when he came across these stunning frozen lighthouses, which had essentially turned into giant ice castle-like structures.
Speaking to the Daily Mail about the experience, Zakowski, who lives in Indiana, revealed he tries to travel to Michigan every year following a storm and said, “Every year it's different, but it's an event I look forward to very much. To get there was a little tricky, as first you have to make your way out on the pier.”
“It's like walking on an ice skating rink and at one point I have to duck walk past the first building in order to safely get to what I call the prize,” he continued.
If you ask us, it's definitely worth it!
