Top 5 things to do in Toronto this week [April 14 - 20th] !

Okay, so we were spoiled this past weekend with the warm weather, and apparently the winter nightmare has decided to give us one last (HOPEFULLY) blast of cold this week - but don't worry, by the end of this week - just in time for Easter - it's supposed to warm up again.

With that in mind, here are the five events I'm most excited for this week:

FILM: Images Festival

This underrated festival is the one long running, reliable film festival where you can see the best in experimental indie films, alongside live performances and media art installations, happening in galleries and cinemas around the city. If you're a fan of the Vanguard program during TIFF - you will adore Images Festival.

Where: Various venues across the city

When:  Until April 19th

MUSIC: Record Store Day!

Well - this is the day I am most excited for all year long - it is every vinyl nerd's Christmas - but sadly I am obliged to go home and celebrate Easter with my family this weekend. My small Ontario hometown doesn't have much in the way of record stores - so I am majorly missing out this year. Please, please enjoy this for me! Support local music, support your local store, and build out a collection of music you love and have to actually stop what you're doing to listen to. It's a win win all around. As usual, Sonic Boom will have a solid lineup of in store performances so if you're only making one stop - they're the one to check out.

Where: Record stores across the city

When: April 19th

THEATRE: The Sound of Music

The Lower Ossington Theatre has brought this beloved classic to the stage at Randolph Theatre, and if you've never seen it, they give you an option to see it without paying Mirvish prices! It is always impressive to see a cast that includes 7 children pull off a flawless live performance that lasts as long as this one does.

Where: Randolph Theatre

When: Until May 3rd

FUN: GTA Rollergirls vs Renegade Derby Dames

After you get your fill of live music and vinyl on Record Store Day, finish it off with something just as awesome - a game of Roller Derby. While I've never been one for sports - there's something so incredibly fun about a sport just for women, that involves a bit of (harmless) roughhousing, fun costumes, original names, and roller skating. Why haven't I joined this league yet?

Where: Ted Reeve Arena

When: April 19th, 6pm

EASTER: Spring Blooms Easter Show

For those of you looking to celebrate Easter this weekend - I highly recommend checking out the blooms happening at the Conservatory just for Easter season. Even if you're not a follower of Jesus and co. - any excuse to see the beauty that spring brings to the city is an opportunity worth taking!

Where: Allan Gardens & Centennial Park Conservatory

When: Until May 4th
