Introducing Normal Ken, a doll based on the average American teen
Lammily, the brand responsible for giving the world Normal Barbie back in 2013, has turned its attention to the man in Barbie’s life and given him a major makeover.

Meet Normal Ken. His physique is based off of an average 19-year-old American male's and comes with a wider waist, shorter legs and smaller muscles than Traditional Ken has.

"What I hope it can do is show boys realistic of versions of men," creator Nickolay Lamm told TODAY. "It is one small step to take a focus on men's body image issues."
“Men experience the same kind of pressure to look fit, trim and beautiful as women do. Think of all the products aimed at re-growing hair or building muscle mass.”

Dressed in jean shorts and a plaid shirt, the doll will be crowdfunded (just like Normal Barbie) and will likely be made available for sale in November.

Is there a need for Normal Ken in the marketplace? Considering Mattel's recent launch of curvy, petite and tall Barbies, we think so!
