5 Canadian food festivals you'll want to pig out at this summer, including Taco Fest and Ribfest
Canada may not always be the first country to spring to mind when thinking off foodie nations, but it's time that all changed. We who live in the Great North know how amazing our food scene is and every year, thanks in part to cool summer food festivals like the ones listed here, more and more folks are discovering our secret. From Ribfest to Eat! Vancouver, these are the five summer food festivals we can't wait to unapologetically pig out at!

Toronto - TACO FEST - June 17 to 19
Hold on to your sombrero, Tdot is getting a three-day food festival that will be entirely dedicated to, you guessed it, tacos! The first-ever Taco Fest will offer "an electric atmosphere showcasing Toronto’s best and most celebrated chefs with an authentic Mexican twist. Tacos, Tequila, Hot Sauce and everything Mexican." Taco Fest rolls into 99 Sudbury from June 17 to 19 and brings with it margaritas and tortillas, too.

Montreal - Ribfest -  June 27 - July 1
Reading the description of this yearly BBQ bonanza is all it takes to get our mouths watering all over our keyboards: "Master Ribbers from the southeastern United States will anchor their giant food trucks in the Old Port. From their smokers and grills, they’ll be serving up huge racks of ribs, grilled chicken, pulled pork, secret sauces and authentic BBQ side dishes." Yes, please!
Saskatchewan - Taste of Saskatchewan - July 12-17
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the fest will feature "over 30 of Saskatoon's finest restaurants serving their house favorite dishes in beautiful Kiwanis Park... from succulent entrées to delicious desserts to specialty items. It will also feature over 55 of Saskatchewan’s premier bands and performers from Country, Rock, Celtic, Blues, Reggae, Salsa, Jazz, Pop, and more."
Edmonton - Taste of Edmonton - July 21-30
One of the oldest foodie fests in the country, Taste of Edmonton has it all! "Since 1984, it has been offering a delicious sampling of what Edmonton restaurants have to offer. With all of the city’s best food and drinks gathered together in Sir Winston Churchill Square, this festival will be sure to hit your sweet spot. Beer or wine, sweet or savoury, gluten or gluten-free, folk music or jazz – whatever you fancy, you will be able to find it at Taste of Edmonton 2016!"
Vancouver - EAT! Vancouver - TBD
The fall dates for this year's EAT! are yet to be announced, but what we do know is that there are 8 days of deliciousness in store. The EAT! Vancouver Food + Cooking Festival will be taking place throughout downtown Vancouver, showcasing the city’s extraordinary culinary culture with special tasting menus, workshops and more.
