Sorry, schadenfreude lovers: it looks like Eminem was completely aware that he was getting a butt in his face at Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards.
The Internet is abuzz about the incident, in which Sasha Baron Cohen, dressed up as his flamboyantly gay character Bruno, flew out over the audience in an angel costume and fell on top of Eminem – when it was revealed that Cohen was essentially bottomless and was now pressing his bare butt and surrounding areas into the rapper's face. Eminem's bodyguards quickly tossed Cohen out of the way as the rapper stormed out of theatre, prompting many to wonder if he really was as livid as he appeared.
Well, it appears that even Eminem has a sense of humour after all, as Andy Samberg's head writer, Scott Aukerman, revealed that yes, the entire thing was planned and yes, Eminem was a willing participant.
"Yes, the Eminem-Bruno incident was staged," Aukerman wrote on his blog yesterday. "They rehearsed it at dress [rehearsal] and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show."
Wait, so not only can Eminem take a joke, but he also knows how to act?! He wasn't nearly this convincing in 8 Mile.
