Feud Heats Up Between 'Tween Role Models Cyrus, Gomez

July 28, 2008

Disney is finding itself with a tween feud on its hands the likes of which hasn't been seen since that time Christina Aguilera "borrowed" Britney Spears' scrunchie on the set of the Mickey Mouse Club. In the latest entry in their YouTube video series [ed. note – OMG, you should like totally release these on DVD!!!], Miley Cyrus mercilessly mocks Disney rivals Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.

America's teen sweetheart-turned-back-cleavage-exhibitionist enlists her BFF, Mandy, to help her cruelly deconstruct a previous YouTube vid posted by Gomez and Lovato. M&M -- mocking their rivals with a viciousness that only teen girls command -- make fun of Gomez's Power Rangers t-shirt and Lovato's goth-inspired makeup. But the lowest blow is saved for Camp Rock star Lovato, who is ridiculed for the gap in her teeth she recently had fixed. (Not that the horse-toothed Hannah Montana should be throwing stones...)

Meany Miley's latest clip surfaced the day after People magazine confirmed her ex-boyfriend, Nick Jonas, has been dating Gomez for months.

Cyrus has since apologized for the video, telling Popstar! magazine: "If we offended them we're super-sorry. We were like, just having fun...That's our thing, is to be funny. They were being funny on their show and Elvis says imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so we were imitating them."

Whatever the motivation for their digital diatribe, we just look forward to the day Cyrus and her pal quit trying to reenact Mean Girls and return to recording wicked dance-offs (not to mention learn proper lighting techniques. It looks like their videos are being shot in Zac Efron's already-crowded closet).
