Kate Hudson is in the middle of a hairy situation. The 29-year-old actress and her hairstylist, David Babaii, are being sued for allegedly stealing a top secret hair care recipe, reports US Weekly.
Los Angeles-based 220 Laboratories have named Hudson and Babaii in a suit alleging fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract and other complaints.
In June, the star and stylist teamed up and launched an eco-friendly line of hair products that boasted volcanic ash its key ingredient.
But 220 Laboratories claims they were the single supplier of volcanic ash in the United States at the time and had entered an “oral contract” with the actress and Babaii in 2006 to develop and manufacture hair care products. The company claims that the pair took the ash samples and shopped around to find a cheaper deal.
220 Laboratories also claims that the How To Lose A Guy in Ten Days star and her (clearly diabolical) hairstylist used promotional footage of the company’s team collecting ash with their manufacture.
A rep for Hudson told E! News that Hudson and her attorneys had only just learned of the complaints against them, and the actress has not yet been served with official papers.
“Kate does not know the plaintiffs and has never met with them of spoken with them.”
According to Hudson’s rep, the claims are totally false, and they intend to vigorously defend the lawsuit.
