Only a week ago, Heidi Montag was on PerezHilton.com, thanking everyone who commented on her lame "Higher" music video - she even thanked the people who hated it (i.e. everyone).
"I appreciate people taking the time to write any kind of comment. Do you know how much effort it really takes to sit down and write a comment? I've never written a comment in my entire life," Montag said, neglecting to add that she's probably never written anything in her entire life. "You really have to have a lot of passion and thought to write any comment, so thank you."
Well, she must have quickly realized that responding well to criticism wasn't going to get her very much press, because Montag has changed her tune, telling Us Weekly how miserable she was about all the negative feedback.
"I just started sobbing uncontrollably," the tune-deaf star of The Hills told the magazine. "I just couldn't understand why people I didn't even know felt the need to be so cruel and hurtful toward me."
Here's the kicker: "I'm just a 21-year-old from a small town in Colorado trying to follow her dreams."
We're all ruining the innocent dreams of a sweet young girl who made a cheap, softcore music video on the beach with her skeezy boyfriend! We should be ashamed of ourselves.
Spencer Pratt, Montag's creepy boyfriend, also chimed in.
"This is just part of being an artist," he said. "If it were easy, everyone would be a pop star."
The couple then immediately contradicted their "being a pop star is hard" stance by talking about how easy the video shoot for "Higher" was.
"We were at the beach and, literally, Spencer had his camera and a boom box in the trunk," Montag recalled. "We did it in one take, maybe two, and it took us 20 minutes to film and cost us zero dollars."
