Angelina Jolie may be skilled at saving the world, adopting orphans and defusing feuds between her security guards and the paparazzi, but it looks like she could use a little help endearing herself to the in-laws. The actress-turned-humanitarian is fuming after learning that Brad Pitt's parents accepted an invitation to spend Thanksgiving dinner at Jennifer Aniston's house, reports NW magazine.
Despite no longer being connected to the Pitt clan through marriage, Aniston still has warm and fuzzy feelings for her ex's parents, Jane and Bill Pitt. She invited her former in-laws to celebrate Thursday's U.S. holiday at her new, six-bedroom Beverly Hills pad.
A source close to Jolie tells Britain's Star magazine, "She is distraught that the woman who is practically her mother-in-law is continuing to mix with Brad’s ex-wife."
A source close to Aniston claims she merely stepped up after Pitt's parents traveled to Malibu to see their son, not realizing he wouldn’t be coming home from India for Thanksgiving.
"Jen was just coming to Brad's rescue," the source tells the magazine. "His folks bought the tickets ages ago. Jennifer thought she was doing good, but apparently it's whipped up a hornet's nest with Angelina."
Perhaps Pitt's parents just wanted to enjoy a simple Thanksgiving meal without having to endure long lectures about the importance of setting up proper irrigation systems in Third World countries, interspersed by crying jags in which a tear-streaked Jolie shrieks, "Why won’t you accept me?!? Is it because I've never launched a hair trend?? Don’t make me adopt you!"
