Sam Lutfi Sues the Spears Clan. Aw, Poop. This Means We Have to Hear About Sam Lutfi, Again

February 4, 2009

A few days ago, smuthounds heard a name they'd wanted to forget even more than Britney's no-panties-phase -- Sam Lutfi. Spears' dad obtained a restraining order against the pop-star's former hanger-on late last week.

This week, Lutfi's name has surfaced again on the celebrity justice beat, as Spears' former "manager" is suing Spears and her parents, Jamie and Lynne, alleging defamation, breach of contract, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, the Associated Press reports.

Much of Lutfi's laundry list of complaints stem from Lynne Spears' tell-all book, Through the Storm. As Lutfi alleges in court documents obtained by People, the book is full of "lies and fabrication."

"Since the publication of the book, Lutfi has been subjected to unfathomable amounts of ridicule and scorn," the court documents claim. (Which is unlike his life before the book how?) He also says he's become the target of "numerous death threats from overzealous fans" causing him to (and this one is actually kind of a WTF?) "no longer find work as a counselor of at-risk teens." Huh. We would have thought nine-to-fiving with Britney would make hanging with typical troubled youths a cake walk.
In the court documents, Lutfi maintains that "Jamie and Lynne launched a campaign of lies and intimidation designed to destroy Lutfi and drive him out of Britney's life."

"This campaign also provided Jamie with the opportunity he needed to obtain an appointment as Britney's conservator."

Lutfi's complaints against Jamie also include allegations that Papa Spears "punched [Lutfi] in the chest" in January '08, causing "injury to his nervous system and person."

And, naturally, there's some fuss over money as well. Lutfi, who says he became Spears manager in late '07 -- an arrangement brought about through an oral agreement and a text message -- claims he hasn't received payment for his managerial services.

The Spears camp has yet to comment on the situation.
