Angelina Jolie, who's notorious for pimping out her children to the media when it suits her, has no problem stomping on the freedom of the press. The actress-turned-orphan-hoarder forbade reporters from asking her personal questions at the red carpet premiere of her new movie, A Mighty Heart.
Ironically, the film stars Jolie as Marianne Pearl, the widow of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who has become a tireless advocate for freedom of the press. Even more ironically, the event was to benefit the organization Reporters Without Borders.
Prior to Wednesday night's (June 13) premiere, Jolie's lawyer presented reporters with a contract, asking them to agree "not ask Ms. Jolie any questions regarding her personal relationships. In the event Interviewer does ask Ms. Jolie any questions regarding her personal relationships, Ms. Jolie will have the right to immediately terminate the interview and leave."
According to Fox News, the contract also stated that the articles written about the premiere must only be used to promote A Mighty Heart, and that Jolie had the right to take away the reporter's tape if she did not like the way the interview was going.
Major outlets, including USA Today and the Associated Press, reportedly pulled out of the premiere after refusing to sign the agreement. Fox News, who Jolie specifically forbid from covering the event, reports they only received accreditation after a "mortified" publicist intervened.
At the premiere, Jolie worked overtime to rebuild her God-like reputation, telling Access Hollywood that her red-carpet dress only cost $26. Well then, that totally entitles her to act like a hypocritical hag. Carry on, Saint Jolie!
