Here's some shocking news: Amy Winehouse might be brain damaged. We'll give you a moment to recover. We know we just rocked your world, after all.
New reports suggest the "Rehab" singer has suffered two major overdoses in a year and now may be suffering brain damage, reports The Sun.
Sources say the soulful singer first overdosed in August 2007 after binging on crystal meth, heroin and cocaine. And this past July, Winehouse was hospitalized after a 36-hour marijuana binge that left her in convulsions, reports The Sun.
Winehouse's doctors are now reportedly worried that the most recent overdose has left her permanently disabled. The singer has "displayed symptoms normally associated with schizophrenia," and has been warned that one more overdose will kill her, says a source.
Winehouse was taken to the hospital in July, and her father claimed the trip to the emergency room was due to a "bad reaction to medicine."
But a friend of Winehouse is claiming that her father's explanation is simply untrue.
"She had smoked an inhuman amount of hash which resulted in acute cannabis poisoning," the friend tells The Sun. "She is in need of years of psychiatry and medical treatment if she has a hope."
And while it may be the least of her problems, Winehouse has also landed herself in legal trouble after pulling out of a festival in Paris this weekend. The singer was set to headline, but never left her London home, citing illness. The festival organizers stated they intend to pursue legal action.
