Britney Spears' lawyers may want to consider investing in some tents, sleeping bags and portable stoves and look to set up camp inside the courthouse. The Weaved One's legal team will once again attend a closed-door session today in Los Angeles with Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon concerning Spears' custody case.
Among the legal affairs expected to be sorted in today's hearing include who, exactly, will be representing Spears in the future. Her attorney, Sorrell Trope, has requested to be released from the case multiple times. Possible replacements include Spears' previous lawyer, Laura Wasser, who dumped the singer in September but may be ready to jump into the fray once again, or attorney Stacy Phillips, who has represented Tori Spelling and Bobby Brown, reports E! News.
Whoever ends up on Team Train Wreck, they're expected to request monitored visitation be reinstated between Spears and her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, whom she hasn't seen since leading them in a rousing game of "Let's Hide from the Police" on Jan 3.
Today's court session is expected to be the first of many custody hearings in the next few weeks. Spears' ex-hubby, the not-as-bad-as-we-first-feared-but-still-skeevy Kevin Federline, is fighting for full physical custody.
In any case, Spears is sure to keep her new lawyer busy. Besides her continued fight to relieve her father, Jamie, of his co-conservator status over her estate, the world's favourite vadge-flasher is back to her old habits, reportedly sneaking a five-finger discount from Melrose Ave.'s Fred Segal store over the weekend. Brit-Brit allegedly returned to her Winona Ryder-loving roots, entering the store in a leopard-print top and leaving in a black, long-sleeved top that she forgot to pay for, y'all!
"Britney seemed to be in a daze," a witness tells UK's The Sun. "She rushed around looking at coats and bags and then left with her gang of 25 people. The staff were just staring at each other, then said 'I think she’s taken a top.' "
