By now, you and your mom and your mom's Pomeranian have seen Susan Boyle's performance of Cats ballad "Memory" on the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent. The 48-year-old's rendition of that standard of shopping mall keyboard salesmen the world over has caused Simon Cowell's heart to grow three sizes larger and made feelings squeeze out of several million peoples' eyeballs. And, perhaps most importantly of all, it provoked Lily Allen to opine in 140 characters or less.
As Allen wrote via Twitter Sunday night, "Susan Boyle is overrated."
Despite the pop singer's self-deprecating tweet of "je suis overrated aussi," Allen nevertheless found the need to further defend her five-word critique yesterday (perhaps her thousands of followers are in need of a French/English dictionary?).
Said Allen: "I'm allowed to have an opinion. I thought her timing was off, no control, and I don't think she has an amazing voice."
The message ":p #SuBo" would probably also have gotten the point across, but fair assessment, Lils.
Allen continued her point in a further message: "Yes, she can sing, but it's not about talent with her is it? She seems like a lovely lady but if it’s about talent, that Shaheen kid should win."
In the meantime, the universe is expected to stew over the one non-Team Susan Boyle voice on the webbernets. The Britain's Got Talent finale airs Sunday. Top trending topics about Susan Boyle are expected to be replaced by "#Blink182wordsduringWolverinesex" in weeks following.
