Britney Spears already has a reputation for being a cooch-flasher, baby-dropper, awards-show-bomber, traffic hazard, fashion-shoot-destroyer and parental trainwreck, so why not add thief to the list? The badly weaved weirdo stole a lighter from her home-away-from-home, a Chevron gas station, on Friday night (Dec. 7).
Spears had paid for her chewing gum and was about to leave when she was overcome by the sudden impulse to enjoy a five-finger discount. Not only did the celebutard double back to steal the lighter, she then felt the need to brag about it on camera.
When someone from her ever-present paparazzi entourage pointed out that she didn't pay for the lighter, the sticky fingered starlet remarked, "I stole something. Oh, I'm bad!"
Jatinder Kaur, the owner of the Sherman Oaks, Calif., gas station, confirmed to People Britney ripped him off.
"Yes, Britney stole a blue lighter here last night," he said. "The lighter is $1.39. I'm hoping maybe the next time she comes back she will pay for it. I know she can afford to pay for it, but I'm not planning to file a police report. It's still not right for her to steal the lighter. I hope she will do the right thing the next time she comes here."
No worries, Brit Brit. One of the photographers who was stalking the unofficial Red Bull mascot went back to the store and paid for the lighter.
"[The manager] didn't want me to pay for it at first," photographer Shane Partridge told Us Weekly. "I told him it was no bother. I just felt like I should, you know?"
It's the least he could do, seeing as Spears' recent exploits are most likely paying for his kids' tuition, his wife's new rack and the renovations to his beach house in the Greek Isles.
