Usher's Wife Stable Following Plastic Surgery Complications

February 9, 2009

Before Grammy watchers were shocked by the mysterious disappearance of Chris Brown and Rihanna, Usher was the subject of another tragic Grammy headline.

The R&B singer, who was booked to play Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy bash on Saturday night, had to cancel his plans to attend the party after his wife, Tameka Foster, suffered "complications from routine surgery."

According to multiple reports, Foster, 37, was undergoing cosmetic surgery in Brazil when trouble arose. Further details have yet to come to light, but Access Hollywood reports that a neurosurgeon from L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was flown to Brazil Sunday night to attend to Foster. There is no word on what type of cosmetic surgery Foster had undergone.

Since then, E! News has said that Foster -- Usher's former stylist and mother to the couple's two children -- is in "stable condition" and that Usher has arrived at the hospital to be with her.

The pair married in August 2007 and welcomed their second child later that year. Foster has three more sons from a past relationship.
