British Pop Star Lily Allen is Pregnant

December 21, 2007

British pop star Lily Allen, 22, is pregnant with boyfriend Ed Simmons, 37, who most of the world knows as "that guy from the Chemical Brothers."

The smart-mouthed singer is apparently "thrilled" to have a baby growing in her belly thanks to a special little deposit from her pelvic affiliate, whom she's been dating since September.

"I am pleased to confirm that Lily Allen and her boyfriend, Ed Simons, are expecting their first child," a rep for the songstress told the BBC. "However, as the pregnancy is at a very, very early stage, the couple ask that you respect their privacy, as the health of Lily and their child is their paramount concern. As the pregnancy is at such an early stage, the couple will be making no further comment but they are obviously both thrilled by the news."

Allen rose to fame on the strength of her sarcastic debut album Alright, Still, a disc packed with sugar-sweet pop tunes and hilariously subversive lyrics about everything from smoking pot to the seedy side of London and the inferior size of an ex-boyfriend's penis. She is set to release a new album and host a TV talk show next year and her rep said everything is expected to go ahead as planned.

Allen has also known for her outspoken nature, which has frequently landed her in the tabloids for dissing everyone from Madonna to Pete Doherty. She's also blogged about being self-conscious about her weight and recently shed 20 pounds quite rapidly. Looks like sustaining herself on nothing but packets of Crystal Light, celery strands and air was all for not.
