It's getting harder and harder to tell Mischa Barton and her flawed, perpetually delinquent O.C. character, Marissa Cooper, apart these days. On Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning (Jan. 10), the 21-year-old actress publicly apologized for pulling a Coop and getting arrested for DUI.
"Obviously, I'm 100 percent responsible for my actions in this case, and I'm really disappointed in myself," Barton said. "I don't know what to say about it except I'm not perfect. I just don't ever intend to do something this stupid again."
The starlet was stopped by police in West Hollywood on Dec. 27 when they noticed her driving her white Range Rover erratically while heading home after a night out with pals. Authorities discovered she was intoxicated, driving without a license, and in possession of pot and another undisclosed substance.
"I didn't have a license," Barton told Seacrest. "I grew up in New York, the land of people who don't have to drive. It's always been the toughest thing about living in L.A. for me. I usually try not to get behind the wheel."
Luckily for Barton, she's not the only fuck-up in her family. The National Equirer reports Barton's 19-year-old sister, Hania, was hospitalized over the holidays because of an overdose. Responding to the reports, the family's rep released an awesomely nasty statement yesterday, telling People magazine: "Mischa understands that as an actress and a public person she needs to address her issues in a timely and appropriate manner. That being said, she's the only public person in her family and we will not address these sleazy, tabloid reports. I think these pieces of shit who work at hospitals and sell private information are not only breaking the law, but they're morally reprehensible. They're selling people's private information for the price of dinner for four at Lawry's. And I hope they choke on their prime rib."
Wow. Can we hire this guy?
