And now for a sentence we never, ever thought we'd type: Clay Aiken is a daddy.
In news that is sure to have Claymates around the world clutching their ovaries in ecstasy, Aiken's BFF/baby mama, Jaymes Foster, gave birth to a baby boy at 8:08 a.m. in North Carolina this morning.
"I wanted to stop by, if only for a second, so you could be the first folks I tell...HE'S HERE!" Aiken posted on his website. "My dear friend, Jaymes, and I are so excited to announce the birth of Parker Foster Aiken (No hyphens. One first name. One middle name. One last name.) Parker was born at a hospital in North Carolina just this morning at 8:08 AM. Wow...8:08...08/08/08...The little man is healthy, happy, and as loud as his daddy. Mama Jaymes is doing quite well also."
Aiken's mother, Faye, told Raleigh radio station WRAL that the new bundle of joy weighs 6 pounds, 2 ounces and measured in at 19 inches. She added that her son was "smiling from ear-to-ear" when he first saw the baby.
In May, news broke that the 29-year-old singer's longtime friend and producer, Foster, was expecting his child through artificial insemination. When not in North Carolina, Aiken reportedly stays with Foster (who is thought to be in her late 40s) in her house in Los Angeles, and the pair plans to share the platonic parenting.
First, Oprah introduces us to a pregnant man, and now Aiken enters into fatherhood. What a wonderfully wacky world we live in.
