Paris Comes to Oompa-Loompa's Rescue. No, Seriously.

December 11, 2007

There are days when reporting on celebrities can be kind of a drag. It's always the same old, same old: rehab, divorce, sex tapes, cooch flashing, feuds. But every once in awhile, a story comes along that is so bizarre and ridonkulous, it makes the whole thing worth while. Enter Paris Hilton, who livened up our lives by coming to the rescue of, wait for it, an Oompa-Loompa.

Hilton was getting down with her bad self at Cameo nightclub in Miami early Saturday (Dec. 8) morning. The heir-head was enjoying a performance of Jeff Beacher's Madhouse with three Oompa-Loompa characters in orange makeup and green hair when the crowd suddenly rushed the stage and one of the performers, Robin Sherwood, was injured, reports People.

Hilton stayed by the candy-coloured performer's side until help arrived, according to witnesses. Sherwood was already acquainted with the socialite, who, along with her sister Nicky, has been supporting his quest to get a kidney transplant.

"I was with Paris," Mike Heller of Talent Resources, who booked the event, tells People. "Paris stayed back at the event when she heard that he was injured, to make sure he was OK. She was very concerned with his health. She didn't leave until she knew that he was OK."

Another source tells the mag, "Yes, Paris Hilton stayed with him until an ambulance came to take care of him. ... Paris was great, she was there until he was turned over to the medical technicians."

Sherwood received stitches and was released from hospital, no doubt into the waiting arms of Hilton, who's been on the lookout for a new pet. Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that her coterie of exotic animals would include a singing, dancing, knee-high candy maker. Oompa-Loompa-Doompadee-Doo!
