Barbara Walters Picks 10 Least Fascinating People for Her Annual 'Most Fascinating People' List

November 13, 2008

The Webster's Dictionary defines "fascinating" as "extremely interesting or charming." We thought we'd mention this because it looks like Barbara Walters could use a reminder.

The legendary newswoman has revealed the partial list of celebrities she'll be profiling in her annual special, Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People, and the guests range from the obvious to the head-scratchingly incomprehensible.

According to USA Today, among the no-brainers are Tina Fey (who ruled 2008 with Baby Mama, 30 Rock, and her inescapable Sarah Palin impression) and swimming champ Michael Phelps. But Walters' other picks range from 'meh' (Will Smith, Miley Cyrus) to 'what the heck is she thinking?' (Tom Cruise, Frank Langella, Rush Limbaugh).

Her choice for the most fascinating person of the year will be revealed when her special airs Dec. 4 on ABC.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly has compiled a list we can actually get behind. The magazine has announced their picks for the 25 Entertainers of the Year, and rounding out the top five are Twilight author Stephanie Meyer, Gossip Girls' frenemies Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, the cast and crew of The Dark Knight, Tina Fey and Robert Downey Jr.
