In a move that we’re sure has no publicity-related connection to Friday’s release of his movie Confessions of a Shopaholic, actor Hugh Dancy has announced his engagement to actress Claire Danes.

The Brit actor, 33, and Danes, 29, who have been dating for more than a year, confirmed their engagement to People magazine.

The couple met while filming the drama Evening last year, and have been an item ever since. This is the first marriage for both actors. The actress had previously dated Matt Damon and Billy Crudup.

Danes will next be seen in Me and Orson Welles alongside Zac Efron, while after Shopaholic, Dancy has indie romance Coach.
