Christian Bale No Longer Has to Hide in the Batcave

August 14, 2008

It seems that Christian Bale's luck extends beyond the box office. The Dark Knight star (and our pretend boyfriend) will not face assault charges following that nasty run-in with his mother and sister last month.

Bale, who refused to comment publicly on the "deeply personal matter," was arrested in London after getting into an altercation with mother Jenny and sister Sharon on July 20 at the Dorchester Hotel.

Today, Crown Prosecution Service recommended that police take no further action against the actor, reports BBC News. The 34-year-old actor is expected to walk away from the ordeal with merely a police caution.

A CPS spokesman said: "We can today confirm that we have advised the Metropolitan Police Service that the actor Christian Bale should not face any charges following an incident which occurred in relation to his mother and sister at the Dorchester hotel on 21 July this year.

"Whilst the CPS treats all incidents which take place in a domestic context seriously, it is important that the views of complainants are also taken into account when making decisions in such cases.

"Taking all the factors into consideration, the decision has been taken that there is insufficient evidence to afford a realistic prospect of conviction, and accordingly the police have been advised that no further action should be taken against Mr Bale."

Thank goodness we can finally put this troubling incident behind us. The baffling blemish on Bale's otherwise perfect reputation was beginning to make us feel a little weird about plastering our bedroom walls with lipstick-stained screengrabs from his shirtless training scene in Batman Begins. Not weird enough to take them down, mind you...
