If Us Weekly has its way, Jon & Kate Plus 8 may soon turn into Kate Plus 8 Minus 1. (OK, the math doesn't entirely work out on that one, but we're writers, not second-grade math teachers.) After publishing photos of Jon Gosselin with a mystery woman last week, Us Weekly claims to have confirmed that the TLC dad is having an affair with a 23-year-old school teacher.
The gossip mag originally broke the story on April 28, catching the reality star leaving a bar at 2 a.m. with the mystery woman while his wife, Kate, was away on a book tour. Gosselin officially denied any romantic shenanigans.
"Like most people, I have male and female friends, and I'm not going to end my friendships just because I'm on TV," Gosselin, the father of twins and a set of sextuplets, said in a statement. "My family is the most important thing in my life and it kills me that these allegations have hurt them."
But since then, five people "close to the situation" have reportedly told Us Weekly that 32-year-old Gosselin is indeed having an affair with 23-year-old Deanna Hummel, a third-grade teacher. Jason Hummel, Deanna's older brother and roommate, claims that Gosselin began pursuing his sister in January and, by February, was a regular guest at their house.
The couple, Jason said, would "pretty much stay locked away like two teenagers."
"It was weird. He’s a grown man," Jason told Us. "A lot of the time, it was pretty, um, gross listening to her, you know, um — how do I say this? The walls are thin. Let's just say that. I mean, no one wants to hear his sister having sex, let alone with a married dude who's, like, almost twice her age and who has eight kids and a maybe-crazy wife? Ick. Nast."
Us Weekly has also posted a video allegedly catching Gosselin sneaking out of the Hummel house at 7:30 a.m. on March 13, and has published photos of Deanna sunbathing on the Gosselins' front yard while Kate was out of town on April 26.
The Gosselins have yet to respond to the new allegations.
