Sorry, Jennifer Lopez, but your babies’ record-breaking $6 million US photo payout is about to look like chump change when Angelina Jolie pops out her genetically blessed babies. The New York Post reports Jolie and her baby daddy, Brad Pitt, could fetch upwards of $10 million for the first photos of their impending arrivals.
If true, Brangelina’s twins will set the bar for celebrity glossies, which increasingly resemble baby albums (we wouldn’t be surprised if our next issue of Us Weekly comes with a lock of hair from Tori Spelling’s latest moppet).
Christina Aguilera’s first exclusive photos of son Max reportedly fetched $1.5 million, Nicole Richie’s debut of daughter Harlow went for $1 million, and J. Lo reportedly pocketed $6 million from People magazine’s 12-page spread on twins Max and Emme. But the bidding war could reach new heights over Jolie and Pitt’s latest offspring.
Pregnant stars are now "treating this like a game," the National Enquirer’s Barry Levine tells the Post. "It's become big business now. It's outrageous, they've gotten very sophisticated. The rights are bought up now even before the celeb enters the hospital. They hire extra security so it's impossible to obtain a photo illegally."
One editor, who wished to remain nameless, tells the Post, "It's at the point now where some stars might decide to have more kids just to collect the money from their photos."
Is anyone else worried that Britney Spears might have just stumbled upon a new revenue stream?
