Ellen DeGeneres told her talk show audience she’s planning to wed longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi, according to several media outlets.

With de Rossi, 35, in the studio, DeGeneres, 50, announced the news Thursday while filming an episode of her show (that will air today) prompting the audience to cheer and give her a standing ovation, reports TMZ and People. (Ellen’s audience is known for cheering and dancing at a second’s notice, so a standing O really isn’t all that impressive when you think about it. Those people are celebration sluts.) California’s Supreme Court ruled yesterday that people have a fundamental “right to marry” the partner of their choosing, making the previous ban on gay marriage unconstitutional. (Way to go, California! It’s about time you caught up to us Canadians!)

The two bubbly blondes started dating in December 2004 while de Rossi was on the FOX sitcom Arrested Development (which we miss so much - bring back our Bluths!). Of the relationship, DeGeneres said last year that they have learned from each other: “We’ve both changed and grown, and we just feel like, 'Oh, okay, this is completion.'"

Awww. This gives us the warm and fuzzies.
