Josh Harnett is suing a British newspaper over a story that actually made him seem slightly interesting.
The 30-year-old actor is taking the Daily Mirror to court for alleging he had a “sexual dalliance” in a public area of a London hotel, reports BBC News.
The actor, who is about to star in a West End production of Rain Man, is seeking damages for defamation of character. And he is also seeking a public apology, his lawyers said in a statement.
According to his lawyers, Harnett is a complete and total gentleman who would never, ever ask a lady friend to get busy in public. They are calling the report “not only untrue but a complete fabrication.”
The Mirror’s story claimed the actor was caught on CCTV with a woman in the library of a Soho hotel, and hotel employees watched the naughty security footage.
On ITV’s This Morning, Harnett called the story “rubbish,” adding, “The paper said it was ‘rumored’ I was caught on CCTV. But how can you have a rumor about a video? It would be on the Internet [by] now.”
(Uh…Josh, you can totally have a rumor about a video; just ask Lauren Conrad.)
