Egoists beware: dangerous things can happen when you begin believing your own hype. Just look at Adam Brody – if you can find him.
Sadly, it looks like Miley Cyrus didn't get the memo. The Hannah Montana star is reportedly starting to get a little too big for her Disney Channel britches, having realized that there's far more money to be made in her singing career. Besides, Cyrus is looking to branch out into more adult roles, which is difficult to do if she's chained to a cheesy sitcom aimed at tweeners.
But instead of gracefully fulfilling the requirements of her Disney contract and moving on, 15-year-old Cyrus is pulling a Jessica Biel, purposely engaging in unprofessional behaviour in an effort to get fired from her family-friendly television show, reports TMZ. The best part? She has the full support of Daddy Cyrus, who not only encourages this kind of bratty conduct but participates in it as well: father and daughter repeatedly show up late and unprepared for filming and old Billy Ray has been telling anyone who will listen that he and Miley are only doing 12 more episodes and then they're bolting to greener pastures.
Unsurprisingly, some of the other Hannah Montana stars are none-too-impressed with this line of thinking. Emily Osment, who plays Cyrus's on-screen BFF, used to be besties with Cyrus in real life as well; now, sources tell TMZ, Osment refuses to interact with the haughty actress unless the cameras are rolling. Osment's dad reportedly even got into a screaming match with Billy Ray over the Cyruses' bad attitude, but it seems his complaints fell on deaf ears.
But hey, the end justifies the means! Who cares who Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus upset as long as they get out of their contract early, right?
Not so fast. Disney has made it clear that nobody pushes Mickey Mouse around: not only do they insist the father and daughter complete the 24 episode season, Disney has decided to add another six episodes to the roster.
Way to go, Miley. That was quite the fool-proof plan you had, there.
In response to the reports, Cyrus issued a statement to People.
"I am fully committed to Hannah Montana. It's what gave me this amazing opportunity to reach out to so many people," she said. "I couldn't do it alone. We have an amazing cast that is so supportive, including my dad who has been there for me every step of the way."
