Lindsay Lohan Calls No-Fairsies on Scarlett Johansson, Complains That Her Past Scandals Have Lost Her Work

January 8, 2009

Regrets, Lindsay Lohan's had a few -- the DUIs, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, forgetting to apply bronzer to her ankles and several others, which, we're sure, were probably incurred last night. In a new cover story for Interview magazine, Lohan opens up to Lauren Hutton about her infamous indiscretions. And while Lohan tells the veteran actress that she's still struggling to live down the lost weekend that was her 20th year -- among other poor-little-famous-girl platitudes -- nothing haunts Lohan more than the fact her party-girl status has cost her roles befitting her pedigree as a passable popcorn-movie actress. Come on, people! She's worked with Robert Altman -- and Herbie the Love Bug!

"What hurts me the most is that I work just as hard as any other actress around my age, like Scarlett Johansson, but I just don't get the opportunities that they get because people are so distracted by the mess that I created in my life," says Lohan.

Fair point, but do we detect a note of bitterness directed towards Johansson?

No, no. Come to think of it, maybe Lohan brings up a choice example. They were both child stars, both have put out middling pop albums, both actresses are fondly referred to as "Sugar Tits" by my creepy cousin Chad. But wait, isn't there one more reason why it makes sense for Lohan to drop ScarJo's name while bemoaning her Chateau Marmont-going lifestyle?

Oh yeah, it's because Lohan's been carrying a public hate-on for Johansson since she allegedly carved some ScarJo-specific see-you-next-Tuesday grafitti on a NYC bathroom stall two and a half years ago.

As Johansson herself told reporters last year, "I don't know what the motivation was.

"I remember it was something really vulgar -- I mean shockingly so, like, 'Whoa, what, who are you?' ... I only met her, like, three times."

As interviewer Hutton herself revealed, she didn't bother "googling" Lohan before their chat -- so the follow-up question on whether or not there's any more significance behind the slam will just have to wait.

In the meantime, Interview has posted several more of Lohan's bon mots on their website -- including her musings on why it sucks to be chased by paparazzi and how she wanted to grow up to be a movie star. You can read them here or, you know, you could just look at the pretty pictures.
