Katie Holmes Talks Motherhood (But What About the Mothership?)

March 3, 2009

Katie Holmes' Thetan levels must have been uncharacteristically low this month, as the usually quiet wife of Tom Cruise gave an interview to Glamour, talking to the fashion mag about everything from Suri to… Suri.

In the April issue, the 30-year-old spoke mostly of her experience with motherhood, once again expressing outrage at how Suri's birth was covered by the press, who questioned everything from her daughter's paternity to whether she even existed at all.

"Some of the stuff [people said] was such absolutely horrible things to say about a child," Holmes said. "It was so uncalled for and so disgusting. Enough is enough."

But Holmes got the last laugh when Suri was shown not only to exist, but to be the cutest child the world has seen since Ron Howard played Opie on The Andy Griffith Show. That has to count for something, right?

Holmes also told Glamour that in the months immediately following their child's birth, Cruise sometimes had to calm his wife down about the media coverage.

"We were changing diapers. He said, 'I don't want you to get upset.' And I said, 'Well, I am upset.' So we approached it together," said the doe-eyed actress, adding that she still thinks about confronting the especially vicious reporters. "Sometimes I think I would say, 'Why don't you come over and have dinner? See what there is to see.'"

If reporters were to take her up on her offer, Holmes would probably have to leave the menu to her husband. She told Glamour, "I don't really cook that much--eventually I will. I do make cupcakes. And [Tom] makes his pasta carbonara for me. He knows exactly how to do it: a pinch of this, a pinch of that. He has a recipe, but he also kind of [improvises] by himself. You have to do the egg at a certain time. He did it once when we were camping."
