While it is certainly not true of all men, in general, heterosexuals of the male persuasion frequently tend to be somewhat ignorant of fashion and style. And while there is nothing wrong with their personal likes or dislikes, perhaps if these men don't care about designers or spring collections, they shouldn't show up at New York Fashion Week, hmm?
Sadly, neither Chace Crawford nor Josh Hartnett heeded this advice, as both Hollywood pretty boys showed a remarkable lack of forethought and consideration when attending the Narciso Rodriguez part on Tuesday. (Although considering that the actors' most demanding roles require little more than standing around looking beautiful, perhaps our expectation of manners and common sense is a little too unrealistic.)
According to New York Magazine, Crawford could barely conceal his bafflement at Fashion Week, revealing that he didn't even know who Narciso Rodriguez was and that he finds the idea of designing his own fashion line absurd.
"I don't know what it is about me that people think I could do a fashion line," said the Gossip Girl star. "It would be a big pain in the ass. I would never do it, ever. I barely wear these clothes."
The only way that statement could have been any more awkward and inappropriate would have been if Rodriguez had been standing right behind him.
Later on, Hartnett reportedly made an even bigger spectacle of himself, stumbling into a booth and knocking over several glasses of champagne. Sensing the possibilities, the New York Magazine reporter approached Harnett to ask for an interview.
"Sure. I mean, okay ... actually, no," Hartnett replied. "Sorry, I'm half-lit."
Nice. At least he didn't try to one-up Crawford by burping in Rodriguez's face on the way out.
