For those whose minds were boggled when Jennifer Love Hewitt began dating Jamie Kennedy (i.e. everyone), prepare to have your world go kablamo: the New York Post reports that the Ghost Whisperer stars have gotten engaged. Oh, the humanity.

According to the Post, Kennedy spontaneously popped the question to his disproportionately hot girlfriend last Saturday night at the most romantic place on the earth: the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, Calif. Be still our hearts!

Kennedy was in the middle of his set of "comedy" when he pulled Hewitt onstage to sing. An audience member reportedly called out "Marry her!" and Kennedy went with it, dropping down to one knee and asking Hewitt, his girlfriend of less than a year, to be his wife. Showing worse judgment than when she signed on to star in the Garfield movie, Hewitt said yes.

"It was a standing ovation," said a witness.

However, a rep for Hewitt denied the engagement, telling Us Weekly: "There is no truth to the report."

That's OK, J. Lo Hew - we wouldn't admit to marrying Jamie Kennedy, either.

Hewitt, 30, was previously betrothed to Scottish actor Ross McCall before calling off the engagement in January. Not long after, the I Know What You Did Last Summer actress began dating Kennedy, and they've been sickeningly sweet ever since.
