Did the recession prevent you from oiling up your favourite latex costume and hopping on a plane to San Diego to attend Comic-Con? That's OK. We've got a breakdown of the ten best scoops to come out of last week's annual geekgasm. SPOILER ALERT!
1. The Lost panel was surprisingly juicy, with the usually tight-lipped creators Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse spilling plenty of secrets about the final season. The Lost bosses revealed the sixth season won't focus on time-travelling and flash-forwarding, though viewers can look forward to Richard Alpart's "very involved" backstory, as well as the return of several supposedly dead characters, including Faraday, Juliet and Boone.
2. Gary Oldman let the biggest cat out of the bag, revealing that the next Batman movie will start shooting in 2010 (even though Warner Bros. hasn't officially confirmed a Dark Knight follow-up). "We start shooting next year," Oldman said during the Book of Eli panel. "Which means the movie won't come out for another two years. But you didn't hear it from me!"
3. They're really, really trying to convince us that Heroes won't suck this year. According to creator Tim Kring, the characters will attempt to return to their "normal" lives. "It's a chance to go back and strip away some of the story elements that make the show harder to relate to," said Kring. "With Claire in college, and Parkman is a detective and Peter is a paramedic, it's an entry point into the show that's easier for the audience." Comic-Con fans were treated to new footage, including a girl-on-girl kiss between Claire and her new college friend.
4. Peter Jackson revealed that he's about a month away from finishing the script for The Hobbit, his Lord of the Rings prequel. Though the film has not yet officially been given the green light, Jackson expects to start casting in approximately two months.
5. Kristen Stewart is thinking ahead. When asked what she's most looking forward to in the future Twilight films, the actress cited the final book, Breaking Dawn, saying, "I can't wait to get pregnant." Robert Pattinson quickly added, "I can't wait to perform the cesarean!" Um, eww.
6. Tron is back. 27 years after the groundbreaking original, the new film focuses on Sam Flynn, son of Jeff Bridges' Kevin Flynn character from the first movie, who enters the virtual world to find his missing father. The movie, due out in the fall of 2010, also stars House's Olivia Wilde.
7. Just because the main character suddenly inherited mad fighting skills during the season finale of Chuck, don't expect the lovable computer geek to become invincible. "He can't just know kung fu all the time, otherwise his handlers are obsolete," star Zachary Levi said. "So our very talented and wise creators, they've structured it so the powers have a window, a shelf life, there's a glitch in the system ... I have my powers, but they don't necessarily last. That's the secret."
8. As if we didn't already heart Glee, the Fox musical dramedy revealed the second episode will feature covers of Kanye West's "Golddiger," Rihanna's "Take a Bow," and Salt-n-Pepa's "Push It." A soundtrack will hit shelves in November.
9. The creators of Family Guy revealed that an abortion episode that was deemed a little too extreme for Fox (since when does Fox have standards?!?), will appear on an upcoming DVD. Not that the new season will shy away from edgy storylines. Creator Seth MacFarlane revealed that upcoming episodes will feature Peter having an affair with a cardboard cutout of Kathy Ireland and Meg going to prison.
10. Avatar was the king of Comic-Con. Sure, New Moon and Iron Man 2 might have enjoyed the pre-Comic-Con buzz, but fans can't stop talking about the 25 minutes of 3D footage unveiled by Avatar creator James Cameron.
