Britney Spears' Son Hospitalized, But 'Doing Fine'

November 10, 2008

When it comes to Britney Spears' life, you gotta take the bad with the good. Just days after reuniting with Madonna for a surprisingly coherent duet and winning a rave review for her new album, the comeback queen headed to Louisiana with her sons for her first out-of-state trip with the tykes since losing custody. But the fun family vacay took a serious turn when Spears ended up rushing her youngest son to the hospital.

On Monday afternoon, a note was posted on Spears' website, stating "Jayden James Federline was admitted to the Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center on Sunday, November 9th. Doctors concluded he had a reaction to something he ingested. He is expected to be discharged tomorrow."

E! News reports that Spears and her sister, Jamie Lynn, did not wait for an ambulance on Sunday afternoon, instead driving Jayden to the ER themselves. The two-year-old was admitted overnight. Spears' brother, Bryan, and oldest son, Sean Preston, were spotted visiting the hospital on Monday.

Britian's Daily Mail first reported the incident, citing a source who claimed the tyke suffered a seizure and lapsed into a 'vague and unresponsive' state, though a family friend tells People magazine that the hospitalization was the result of "a terrible allergic reaction. He had hives, was itchy and irritable."

But there is a silver lining to Spears' holiday hiccup. Not only does People's source say Jayden is now "doing fine," but this is the first Spears hospital visit in ages that hasn't ended with a forced hold in the psychiatric ward. Things really are looking up!
