Oops, She'll Do It Again? Report Says Spears May Skank Up Emmys

September 14, 2007

Is it possible that Britney Spears would dare show her face on another nationally televised award show just days after her pathetic performance at the VMAs? Us Weekly's website is reporting the troubled pop tart is in negotiations with Fox to appear on Sunday night's Emmy Awards telecast.

Though we doubt the intellect of anyone who chooses Ryan Seacreast to host their show, at least the producers are smart enough to avoid another Spears "performance." According to a source, "the idea is to have her come on and apologize for the VMAs. She's weighing the offer."

A source close to Spears (can you believe she still has those?!?) was unable to confirm or deny the story, telling the mag's site: "I can't say this is 100 per cent not true. All I can say is that the Emmy people aren't dealing with her record company, her manager or her agents at William Morris. So if she is doing anything for the Emmys then it's not going through the official channels."

An Emmy spokesperson remained tight-lipped, telling Us: "We cannot confirm nor deny this rumor."

As much as we'd love to see Spears struggle on live TV to explain away her career-killing VMA spectacle, this reeks of wishful thinking on Us Weekly's part. Perhaps they're desperate for a new cover story since tapping out the magazine-moving potential of toddler Dannielynn Smith and her publicity whoring baby daddy(s).
