We were under the impression Twitter was supposed to bring people together through its instant updating service, but Jennifer Aniston and ex-boyfriend John Mayer may have proven us wrong. Again.
Twitter may have come between the off-again-on-again couple. A source close to Aniston told Star magazine that she quashed the relationship after Mayer wouldn’t contact her because he was too busy working his Twittering thumbs.
The source told the tabloid magazine: “Jen was fuming. There he was, telling her he didn't have time for her and yet his page was filled with Twitter updates.”
“Every few hours, sometimes minutes, he’d update with some stupid line. And in her mind, she was like, ‘He has time for all this Twittering, but he can't send me a text, an email, make a call?’” the source told the magazine.
When Aniston dumped Mayer (assumingly not on Twitter), the 31-year-old musician was reportedly nonchalant, according to the Star. The source said: “He didn't even deny it. He knew he was avoiding her. So when she called him on it and ended things, he just said OK, and that he was sorry it didn't work out.”
After the relationship came to a close early March, Mayer posted, “This heart didn't come with instructions” on his Twitter site.
Mayer, like Ashton Kutcher and Jimmy Fallon, is well-known for his addiction to Twitter. Now that he’s single, Mayer can spend more time thumbing his lousy poetry, like this recent entry: “Life is like walking through a funhouse. It’s dark, people are pushing and you can’t turn around. You just follow the cracks of life.”
