Christie Brinkley Forgives Hubby's Mistress

July 4, 2008

Christie Brinkley must be saving her harsh words for the courtroom, where she'll continue to verbally bitchslap her ex-husband in their explosively bitter divorce trial. The UpTown Girl revealed Thursday that she "feels really badly” for her hubby's former mistress.

Following yesterday's increasingly scandalous testimony, Brinkley talked to reporters outside the courtroom about Diana Bianchi, the now-21-year-old woman who had an affair with Brinkley's soon to be ex, Peter Cook, when she was a teenager working as his personal assistant.

"I'd just like to say after two days of testimony that I can't help but think about Diana Bianchi, and I want her and her family to know that I feel really badly for them," said Brinkley. "I feel bad for her and I forgive her completely. She was manipulated."

During the dramatic first week of the trial, Bianchi testified that Cook hired her be an assistant at his architectural firm when she was 18, and after a few weeks on the job, he began to aggressively pursue her. They began a relationship, but when she tried to end it, Bianchi claims Cook continued to harass her. That's when Bianchi's stepfather approached Brinkley after she delivered a commencement speech at a high school in 2006, and told the model that her husband wouldn't leave his stepdaughter alone.

"I turned to look at Peter," Brinkley testified on Thursday, reports People. "His face was so tense ... he was saying, 'No.' I thought 'Oh my god. It's true. He did it.' I knew from his face. It explained the feelings I'd been trying not to feel."
