We've all heard the blog-based snickers and web whispers about Paris Hilton and Britney Spears's strangely, ahem, close relationship. Well, knock it off, gutter-brains, because Hilton's rep insists the pair are just "friends."
The sapphic speculation about the new BFFs went into overdrive after Hilton was photographed stroking Spears's thigh. Spears's ex-hubby, Jason Alexander, then add fuel to the fire by revealing, "She found other girls attractive, yes, but we never did anything about it."
"That is just silly," Hilton's rep, Elliot Mintz tells MSNBC's The Scoop. "They are friends and you will continue to see them together. Paris thinks the world of her."
Meanwhile, Hilton has been doing her part to fight the rumours by hooking up with ex-boyfriend Stavros Niarchos. The pair, who originally split up in May, was spotted getting hot 'n' heavy on the dance floor at South Beach nightclub Ink on Friday night.
Hilton created more drama by sporting a huge diamond on her ring finger, but her rep insists she and Niarchos have no plans to wed.
"Paris is not engaged," Mintz tells People magazine. "She does wear rings on different hands and fingers and depending on what's comfortable, but she is not engaged."
