While the paparazzi continue their daily stakeout of Angelina Jolie’s French Rivera hospital, awaiting the arrival of the most genetically blessed twins ever, another superstar birth has managed to slip under the radar (though not for lack of trying on her part, we'll bet). Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban welcomed their first child, a girl, on Monday morning in Nashville.
Sunday Rose Kidman Urban was born Monday, weighing 6 pounds 7.5 ounces, Kidman’s publicist, Wendy Day, tells the Sydney Herald. Mother and baby are said to be doing well.
On Monday morning, Urban posted on his official website: "Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today."
Though Kidman has spent the past nine months gushing ad nauseum about her impending arrival, she stayed mum on her due date and kept bloggers guessing about her belly bump, which seemed in constant flux and spawned conspiracy theories the likes of which we haven’t heard since Charlie Sheen’s latest rant on 9/11. In concert on Saturday, Urban hinted that the delivery would be any day, telling the crowd "I’m going to dedicate a song to my very, very, very, very, very pregnant wife!"
This is the first biological child for the 40-year-old actress. She also has two adopted children -- Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13 -- with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise.
There’s no word on what congratulatory gift Cruise, who claims to enjoy a civil relationship with Kidman, will send his ex, but we’re betting this kid will be offered her first e-meter test within six months.
