With Britney Spears barely able to take care of herself, let alone her children ("How many do I have again, y'all? Two? Three?"), it was only a matter of time before her pets felt the ill effects of her alleged neglect. The SPCA paid a visit to the singer's house on Friday (Aug. 24) to investigate why her dog has been photographed wearing a cast, reports TMZ.
"We have received various sources of complaints throughout the day," Madeline Bernstein, president of Los Angeles' SPCA, told TMZ. "Some said that Britney's Yorkie dog was injured and had a cast on, and some said the dog had a broken leg and was not treated.
"After the calls started pouring in, we did go to Britney's house [Friday] but were just able to leave a note with the housekeeper," added Bernstein. "The matter is not if the dog had an accident, but if the dog is getting proper care."
On Monday, the SPCA cleared the singer after receiving a note from her vet, which detailed the injury and confirmed the dog's treatment. But that wasn't the only time Spears got in trouble this weekend. On Saturday night, she was photographed getting pulled over on an L.A. interstate by the highway patrol for "erratic driving." She was let off with a warning after telling the cops she was attempting to avoid the paparazzi -- an excuse supported by fact that photo agency X17 was there to document the whole thing and post the images on their site soon after.
But Spears' multiple run-ins with authorities didn't seem to ruin her weekend. The singer was spotted enjoying another late night with illusionist Criss Angel. No doubt they were once again "working hard" on her top-secret VMAs performance, with the magician perhaps using Spears to make his wand disappear.
