Well, this explains everything. Just days after Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz announced their engagement, Us Weekly is reporting the lip-synching pop tart is pregnant.
Simpson, the 23-year-old daughter of a former Baptist minister, is expecting her first child with Wentz, 28, a source tells the magazine. There’s no word on what she plans to do if the baby comes out with her old nose.
The couple’s spokesperson refused to comment about the impending bundle of joy, telling Us, "We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple. Beyond that there is nothing to say."
Wentz has denied the rumours, telling MTV News in an email, "There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood. This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover. ... I mean really, this is crazy. ... I mean we're engaged, that's true, and happy about it." When asked if he was denying the pregnancy report, Wentz responded "yeah."
But Us Weekly is standing by its story. OK! Magazine is also reporting on the rumoured pregnancy, quoting sources who say Simpson is due in October, while E! News is citing an insider who claims the couple informed their families of the impending arrival last week.
Ashlee’s older sister, Jessica, has yet to respond to the pregnancy rumours. We’re guessing she’s too busy tightening Tony Romo’s leg shackles and demanding he impregnate her immediately, screaming “I’m the one who’s supposed to get all the publicity, dammit! ME!!!”
