Now that Lily Allen has reportedly cut down on adult beverages and subsequent public drunkenness, she’s branching out with new ways to be (mildly) controversial. The UK pop star has hit out at Capitol Records label mate Katy Perry, calling the "I Kissed a Girl" singer an "American version" of her.
Allen slagged off Perry to London’s Capital FM, saying, "When I met her I was bit frosty with her because someone asked her to describe herself. She's like, 'Aha, I'm like a fatter version of Amy Winehouse and a skinnier version of Lily Allen!'"
Allen added: "It's like, you're not English and you don't write your own songs, shut up!"
Making sure there was no way we might misinterpret her feelings about Perry, Allen continued, "I happen to know for a fact that she was an American version of me. She was signed by my label in America as, 'We need to find something controversial and kooky like Lily Allen' ... and then they found her."
We’re sure cooler heads will prevail, but if things should come down to a good old fashioned catfight, can we get a pay-per-view event, please? Also, we'll put our money on Allen, she looks like she fights dirty.
