On the off chance anyone believes anything Heidi and Spencer Pratt say, insiders at I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! have vehemently denied reports that the couple was tortured on set, leading to Heidi's hospitalization on Saturday. According to TMZ, Mrs. Pratt was rushed to a Costa Rican hospital with a gastric ulcer after she and her husband were confined to a dark room for 14 hours as "punishment" for quitting the show and coming back.
However, insiders say the accusations of torture are patently false, as rations were provided, medical staff was on hand and the "Lost Chamber" was actually a safer environment for them than the jungle.
"Any accusations that Spencer and Heidi were harmed are untrue," a spy told Us Weekly. "There was no danger, no life-threatening situations -- in fact, they were actually protected from the elements, unlike the other contestants. When they came out, they were happy and in good spirits."
Show staff also insisted that the couple was never held against their will. ITV, the studio that produces I'm A Celebrity, released a statement denying the Pratts' allegations.
"ITV has been producing this format around the world for many years and the health of the celebrity participants are of the utmost importance," the statement read.
Still, TMZ reports that the Pratts have now fired the lawyer who advised them to return to I'm A Celebrity and are planning on suing NBC and ITV for physical and emotional distress. Hey, does that mean we can sue the Pratts for the "Higher" video?
