Victoria Beckham had her first day on the set of American Idol this past weekend, serving as a guest judge at the show's Denver auditions. So how did the former Spice Girl do? Let's put it this way: if sources close to production are to be believed, everyone was really missing Paula Abdul. Ouch.
"It didn't go too well," an insider told RadarOnline.com, adding that Posh's attempts to be kind took a wrong turn down Boring Boulevard. "She tried to hard to be 'nice,' but came off as icy and wooden."
"Icy and wooden"? Victoria Beckham? No!
Beckham's dull critiques only added to the underwhelming auditions, where Idol hopefuls were reportedly very upset that Abdul wasn't there – and some even voiced their disappointment on camera. Others thought the presence of two British judges was too much for the American reality competition.
On the bright side, Beckham's stint as an Idol judge is only temporary, and by the time the ninth season debuts in January 2010, the editors will probably cut her footage so well that she'll come off looking witty and delightful. That's what happened with Spice World and... uh... oh.
