The first trailer for the upcoming Youth in Revolt (in theatres Oct. 30) has landed, and Michael Cera haters are going to have a field day with this one. Based on the beloved 1993 novel by C. D. Payne, the film revolves around Nick Twisp, an awkward teen who's in love with his trailer park neighbour, Sheeni. When Sheeni sticks Nick in the "BFF" category, he tries to get her attention by developing a badass alter ego named Francois Dillinger who embroils Nick in a crime spree. Think Just Friends-meets-Fight Club.
Expect to hear a lot of noise about how Cera is just a one-trick pony who needs to break free from these awkward, man-child roles. Maybe so, but that didn't stop us from laughing at the trailer. Plus, how can you pick on a movie that also stars Zach Galifianakis, Steve Buscemi, Jean Smart, Justin Long, Fred Willard and Ray Liotta?
