In news that’s a sure sign the apocalypse is nigh (or should that be Apocalypto?), Britney Spears is on vacation in Costa Rica with…wait for it…Mel Gibson. All together, now: WTF?

TV’s The Insider was the first to report the unlikely holiday hookup. The pair -- along with Spears’ father, Jamie and Gibson’s wife, Robin -- were spotted boarding a private plane around 9 a.m. this morning.

"They're just going away for a few days to relax," a source tells People magazine. They’ll be staying at Gibson’s Costa Rican home and are expected back early next week.

This isn’t the first time the odd couple has socialized. The former neighbours were spotted dining together at a Russian restaurant in Studio City, Calif., in March.

Since it seems clear this unlikely friendship is here to stay, it’s about time we anoint the pair with a Hollywood moniker. We’re casting our vote for “Gibney,” though “The Sugar Tit Twins” comes in a close second.
