Stars Celebrate a Different Type of Independence Day

July 4, 2007

It's a holiday in the States, and we all know what that means: it's when celebrities attempt to sneak their court orders under the radar just before the press takes the day off. Unfortunately for them, we northern neighbors aren't too preoccupied with fireworks and hot dogs to notice.

Jackass star Johnny Knoxville (real name P.J. Clapp. No, seriously), has filed divorce papers from his wife of 12 years, Melanie, citing irreconcilable differences, reports TMZ. He's requesting joint custody of their 11-year-old daughter, Madison.

Whose Line is it Anyway? star Wayne Brady's wife also filed divorce papers on Monday (July 3). Mandie Taketa Brady, who wed the comedian in 1999, is requesting spousal support and joint custody of the couple's four-year-old daughter.

"The split is very amicable and they continue to remain the best of friends and committed parents," Brady's rep tells People.

Thank goodness it's amicable. We're really glad Wayne Brady isn't gonna have to choke a bitch.
